Esta semana Naciones Unidas presentará el primer informe global sobre la situación de los pueblos indígenas en diferentes partes del mundo. El documento contendrá cifras alarmantes sobre los niveles de pobreza que enfrentan estas comunidades, así como el difícil acceso de sus miembros a la salud, la educación y al empleo.

El Director del Centro de Información de las Naciones Unidas para Colombia, Damián Cardona, indicó que lo más interesante del informe es que “demuestra que los problemas de los indígenas son a nivel mundial y no exclusivos de una región”.

El texto se presentará el próximo jueves simultáneamente en Nueva York, Bruselas, Canberra, Manila, México, Moscú, Pretoria, Río de Janeiro y Bogotá.

“La importancia de esto es extraordinaria. Se presentarán en un mismo escenario todas las problemáticas mundiales de estas personas en estado de vulnerabilidad”, agregó Cardona.

“La tercera parte de los indígenas en América Latina viven en condiciones de extrema pobreza. Eso es alarmante y deprimente”, agregó.

This week United Nations will submit the first global report on the status of the indigenous towns in different parts of the world. The document will contain alarming figures on the levels of poverty that face these communities, as well as the difficult access of its members to the health, the education and to the employment.

The Director of the Database office of the United Nations for Colombia, Damián Cardona, indicated that the most interesting in the report is that it "demonstrates that the problems of the natives are at world and not exclusive level of an area."

The text will show up simultaneously proximate Thursday in New York, Brussels, Canberra, Manila, Mexico, Moscow, Pretoria, Río de Janeiro and Bogotá.
